Important update for Patients: A New, Easier Way to Get Appointments at Bowland Medical Practice

Please see this information about Accurx who provide the triage software – Accurx for patients.

What’s Changing?

At Bowland Medical Practice, we’re introducing a new, simpler way for you to get the care you need. This system makes it quicker and easier for you to access the right care—whether that’s a face-to-face appointment, a phone consultation, or support from one of our healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, physio, mental health specialists, podiatrists, and more.

Why Are We Making This Change?

We’ve listened to your feedback and understood some of the frustrations you’ve faced:

  • Difficulty Getting Appointments: Our new system improves scheduling to make appointments more available.
  • Long Waits on the Phone: We’ve streamlined the process to reduce wait times when you call us.
  • Early Morning Rush: You no longer need to visit us at 8:00 am. This new way allows you to contact us at a time that works for you.

How Does It Work?

  • Get in Touch: From 8 AM, fill out a simple online form using your computer or phone. This is the quickest and easiest way to tell us about your health needs.
  • We will no longer be giving appointments directly over the phone or at the reception desk. We can still take appointment requests this way but our reception team will submit the online form on your behalf for a doctor to triage.
  • Quick Check: A senior GP will review your request on the same day to ensure you get the care you need promptly. We aim to get back to you within 24 hours however this may be up to 48 hours on some occasions.
  • Right Care for You: Based on your needs, we’ll guide you to the best care option, whether it’s a routine check-up or urgent help.

Don’t Worry: If you can’t use the online form, you can still call us as usual, and the reception team will complete it on your behalf. Paper forms are also available in reception if you prefer to hand write your request. Using the online form is the easiest and fastest way to get care.

Your Role in This New System

Your health is our priority, and we want to work together to make this system work for everyone. You can help us by:

  • Being Clear and Open: Share as much information as you can about your health concerns so we can provide the right care.
  • Following Advice: Trusting the guidance we provide helps ensure the best outcomes for you.
  • Giving Feedback and work with us: Let us know how the new system works for you, so we can continue to improve and meet everyone’s needs.

We believe this new approach will make a big difference in how you access care, ensuring fair and timely support for everyone based on their needs. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to improve our services.
